What is the Coastal Qualifier?

The Coastal Qualifier is a one-of-kind online qualifier for Fittest of the Coast.

Unlike any online qualifier you have been a part of, the Coastal Qualifier brings unmatched excitement to your gym for four weeks.

You will complete five workouts over the course of four weeks. One week, the workout will feature two scores.

Each week, the FOTC team will release a workout on a Thursday night. Participating athletes will have until Wednesday night of the following week to complete the workout and submit their score.

Workouts are released via a live stream on YouTube at a host gym.

When is the Coastal Qualifier?

The Coastal Qualifier runs Thursday, October 2 – Wednesday, October 29. Workouts are released each week on Thursdays at 7 pm EST and athletes have until Wednesday night at 9 pm EST to complete and submit a workout score.

Registration opens August 1, 2025.

Who Can Compete?

Anyone can compete in the Coastal Qualifier!

Participating in the Coastal Qualifier is the only way to guarantee and earn a spot to compete at Fittest of the Coast.

Any athlete from any gym can participate in the Fittest of the Coast competition season!

Workouts & What’s at Stake?

Qualifier workouts are programmed to test capacity. You’ll see very similar workouts to the CrossFit Open. Once we get to the Championship Event, we will increase loading and skills based on the division.

Individual and Team workouts will be the same during the Coastal Qualifier. Team scores will be the total of both partners’ scores. For example, if the workout is Fran, and Athlete A finishes in 3:00 and Athlete B finishes in 2:30, the team score is 5:30.

If athletes choose to compete in both the individual and team divisions, they will only have to do one workout each week.

Through the Coastal Qualifier, athletes will earn a spot in Fittest of the Coast, which will be held February 13-15, 2026 at the Charleston Convention Center in Charleston, SC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the questions we get asked a lot. Don’t see an answer or question you are looking for? Check out our season rulebook HERE. It has almost EVERYTHING you could want to know about the season.

You are not required to record your workout to submit a score. However, all athletes who earn a qualifying spot must be prepared to submit at least one workout video at the conclusion of the Coastal Qualifier. FOTC will notify athletes via email with video requests at the conclusion of the Coastal Qualifier.

Simple answer….planning on qualifying, then record your videos.

See our rulebook for more info.

Judges are not required, but athletes are encouraged to use a judge. Athletes without judges are required to record and submit a video recording. Judges are not required to take an online judging certification course, but must adhere to the standards outlined by FOTC for the given workout.

See our rulebook for more info.

Yes. Each week, we will email you a scoresheet and also have scoresheet links on our website.

You will submit your weekly score on Competition Corner. The process is super simple! Make sure you are logged in to your Competition Corner profile when you go to submit your score.

Yes. Each week the leaderboard will be blind – meaning, scores submitted will not show until a certain day and time.

Yes! You will need to register twice – once as an individual and once on a team.

Yes! You will need to use a separate email address for each different division.

Yes! Our competition schedules allows for this. Individuals compete on Friday and into Saturday afternoon. Teams compete Saturday afternoon into Sunday.

Your competition age is your age as of February 13, 2025. So if when the qualifier starts you are 34, but you turn 35 on January 5, 2026, you can compete in the 35-39 age group division.

Qualifier workouts are programmed to test capacity. You’ll see very similar workouts to the CrossFit Open. Once we get to the Championship Event, we will increase loading and skills based on the division.

During the qualifier, workouts for individual and team divisions are the same. Team scores will be the total of both partners’ scores. For example, if the workout is Fran, and Athlete A finishes in 3:00 and Athlete B finishes in 2:30, the team score is 5:30.

We do this to keep the qualifier as simple as possible and give athletes the ability to participate in the team and individual divisions without having to do multiple workouts each week and interrupt training.

Yes. We have a minimum cash prize purse of $22,000 for the 2025-26 competition season.

Teams and individuals who earn a spot to the championship, will see a minimum of five scores.
