Imagination Athletics brings you Blimey – a fast-paced race to the finish line featuring rope climbs and clean and shoulder to overheads. Once finished, athletes will have a mandatory rest period, followed by two minutes of max reps clean and shoulder to overhead at a heavier load.

Teams can divide the work with one athlete working at a time.

Workout Flow
Blimey features two scoring chances. The workout begins with both athletes standing on the starting mat. At the call of 3. 2. 1. Go, one athlete may advance to the playing field while the other athlete remains on the starting mat. With only one athlete working at a time, the athletes will complete the prescribed reps in the time frames indicated below. Athletes must tag in and out at the starting mat when switching during the workout. Athletes can split work as desired.

Teams will have until the 2 minute mark to complete the rope climbs and 6 Clean & STOH. If the athletes are unable to complete the prescribed reps during this time, they will be done with the workout. If athletes complete the prescribed reps during this time, they may advance to the next round as soon as they complete the reps. They do NOT have to wait until the 2 minutes are up.  

Teams will have until the 4 minute mark to complete the rope climbs and 8 Clean & STOH. If the Athletes are unable to complete the prescribed reps during this time, they will be done with the workout. If athletes complete the prescribed reps during this time, they may advance to the next round as soon as they complete the reps. They do NOT have to wait until the 4 minutes are up.  

Teams will have until the 6 minute mark to complete the rope climbs and 10 Clean & STOH. The clock stops after the 10th Clean & STOH.  

The team’s score for part 1 will be the time to complete the workout or total reps completed. The tie break score for teams who do not finish part 1 will be the time at which the team completed the last full set of Clean & STOH.

All athletes will compete in part 2 regardless of how they finished in part 1. Athletes may load the barbell with the new weight upon finishing part 1 or anytime before the 6 minute mark. 

Athletes can not perform practice lifts on the barbell during the time between finishing part 1 and the start of part 2. 

Once the 6 minute mark hits, the teams will have until the 8 minute mark to complete as many reps as possible of Clean & STOHs. One athlete will start standing next to the barbell, while the other athlete waits in the holding area. Athletes must tag in and out of the holding area when switching during the workout. Athletes must complete their final rep prior to the 8 minute mark.  Starting a rep prior to 8 minutes and finishing after 8 minutes will result in a no rep.    

During all lifts, athletes must face the starting mats.

Movement Standards

Legless Rope Climb: Each rep starts from the floor. The athlete will not be permitted to touch the rope with any portion of the legs or feet during the ascent; however they may use legs and feet on the descent. Athletes climbing 15′ must make contact with the 15’ mark with one hand. Athletes can drop at whatever height they so choose. Both feet must make contact with the ground prior to starting each rep. Wearing gloves is permitted.

Clean – The movement begins with the barbell on the ground. Both bumper plates must touch the ground at the bottom of each rep. Athletes can power or squat clean the barbell. The movement is complete with the athlete standing tall with hips and knees locked out. 

Shoulder to Overhead – Athletes can strict, push or jerk the barbell overhead. The movement is finished with the barbell overhead with hips, knees and shoulders locked with full control of the barbell. Failure to control the barbell and having the barbell leave the lane area will result in a no rep.
