The hallmark event of the Fittest of the Coast competition season returns in 2022 and promises to have the same exciting atmosphere as years past. The FOTC team is currently working on finalizing the venue and location for the individual championship and plans to announce both date and location later this summer.
The 2022 Individual Championship features revamped masters age divisions now separated by five-year gaps. In addition, a new wild card system has been created to allow new athletes to compete for a spot at the individual championship.
Just like any FOTC event, athletes MUST earn a spot through the Coastal Qualifier. Click HERE to learn more about the Coastal Qualifier. All individuals who earn a qualifying spot can expect a minimum of five scoring workouts that may span over two days.

When & Where?
Date and location to be announced summer of 2021. Location will based in coastal South Carolina and held spring 2022.
Below are the number of qualifying spots per division. Individuals will earn spots based on their performance in the Coastal Qualifier.
Who Can Compete
To be eligible to compete in the FOTC Individual Championship, athletes must have a residence in the state of South Carolina east of U.S. Route 1. This area is approximately from Columbia to the coastline of South Carolina. Please email email@example.com with any questions regarding your eligibility.
Athletes living outside of the Individual Championship eligibility area, can compete to qualify for a wild card spot. Up to 10 wild card spots per division may be awarded. Wild Card spots for the Individual Championship will be given to athletes outside of the eligibility area. See below for more info.
Wild Card System
The FOTC Individual Championship will feature up to 10 wild card spots per division. Athletes who do not live within the Individual Championship eligibility area will be eligible to receive a wild card spot. Wild card spots will be awarded based upon performance in the Coastal Qualifier.
To be eligible for a wild card spot, an athlete must register for the Coastal Qualifier Wild Card leaderboard. Athletes must submit a score to the wild card leaderboard each week during the Coastal Qualifier to be eligible to be selected for a wild card spot.
Athletes will be selected based upon performance & division availability.
This leaderboard will be closed to the public and will be used by the FOTC team to select wild card spots at the conclusion of the Coastal Qualifier. See Championship Invite Process & Dates section below for details on how wild card recipients will be notified.
How Do You Qualify to Compete?
What Can You Expect
All qualifying athletes can expect the following at the Fittest of the Coast Individual Championship:
- Up to two days of competition
- A minimum of five scoring workouts
- Lane cards, athlete welcome bags, apparel & more
- Podium awards & cash prizes to top finishers. Through first two years of FOTC competitions, we have given away more than $25,000 in cash and prizes to podium winners
- The party-like atmosphere you’ve come to expect from FOTC events
- Deep selection of vendors
Movement & Loading Expectations
All qualifying individuals can expect to see any movement that appears in the Coastal Qualifier at the FOTC Individual Championship. Skills and loading will be scaled appropriately by age division.
All individuals who earn an invite to compete will be notified via email on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
